J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 70049  Size: SH
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  2. Remove the engine cooling fans. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .
  3. Remove the upper radiator brackets and bolts.

  4. Object Number: 3348  Size: SH
  5. Use the J 38185 in order to reposition the hose clamp from the radiator inlet hose.
  6. Remove the radiator inlet hose from the radiator.
  7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General information.
  8. Remove the lower air deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors .
  9. Use the J 38185 in order to reposition the hose clamp from the radiator outlet hose.
  10. Remove the radiator outlet hose from the radiator.
  11. Remove the transaxle oil cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Pipes Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
  13. Remove the low coolant module. Refer to Coolant Level Module Replacement .
  14. Remove the radiator.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 3348  Size: SH
  1. Install the radiator to the lower mounts.
  2. Install the low coolant module. Refer to Coolant Level Module Replacement .
  3. Raise the vehicle.
  4. Install the transaxle oil cooler lines to the radiator. Refer to Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Pipes Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E.
  5. Install the radiator outlet hose to the radiator.
  6. Use the J 38185 in order to reposition the hose clamp to the radiator outlet hose.
  7. Install the lower air deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors .
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Install the radiator inlet hose to the radiator.
  10. Use the J 38185 in order to reposition the hose clamp to the radiator inlet hose.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  12. Install the upper radiator brackets and the upper radiator bracket bolts.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the upper radiator bracket bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  14. Install the engine cooling fans. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .
  15. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  16. Inspect for leaks.
