Generator Brace Replacement L36
Removal Procedure
- Remove the generator rear
brace nut (5).
- Remove the generator rear brace bolt (3).
- Remove the generator rear brace (4).
Installation Procedure
- Install the generator
rear brace (4).
- Install the generator rear brace bolt (3).
- Install the generator rear brace nut (5).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Tighten the generator
bolts in the order described. The following is a mandatory torque sequence:
Tighten
- Tighten the generator rear brace bolt (3) to 50 N·m
(37 lb ft).
- Tighten the generator rear brace nut (5) to 50 N·m
(37 lb ft).

Removal Procedure
- Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to
Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement
in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.
- Remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve. Refer to
Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement
Engine Controls - 3.8L.
- Remove the generator rear brace nut (2).
- Remove the generator rear brace bolt (1).
- Remove the generator rear brace.
Installation Procedure
- Install the generator rear brace.
- Install the generator rear brace bolt (1).
- Install the generator rear brace nut (2).
