Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 69062  Size: SH
  1. Partially drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  2. Remove the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 69056  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connector.

  5. Object Number: 69065  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.
  7. Remove the accelerator control cable bracket. Refer to Accelerator Control Cable Bracket Replacement .

  8. Object Number: 622761  Size: SH
  9. Remove the throttle body inlet (3) and the outlet (4) hoses from the throttle body.

  10. Object Number: 54419  Size: SH
  11. Remove the heater pipe nut at the throttle body.
  12. Remove the nuts and the bolts from the throttle body.
  13. Remove the throttle body assembly.
  14. Remove the throttle body gasket.
  15. Notice: Do not use solvent of any type when cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as damage to the gasket surfaces and throttle body assembly may result.

    Use care in cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as sharp tools may damage the gasket surfaces.

  16. Clean and inspect the throttle body gasket mating surface.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install a new gasket, if necessary.
  2. Install the throttle body assembly.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the throttle body nuts and the bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts and the bolts to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  6. Install the throttle body inlet (3) and the outlet (4) hoses to the throttle body.

  7. Object Number: 54419  Size: SH
  8. Install the heater pipe nut to the throttle body.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  10. Connect the IAC valve electrical connector.

  11. Object Number: 69065  Size: SH
  12. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.
  13. Install the accelerator controls cable bracket. Refer to Accelerator Control Cable Bracket Replacement .
  14. Install the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement .
  15. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
