Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the battery ground negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  4. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) insulators. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side and Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  5. Remove the left and the right carpet retainers. Refer to Front Carpet Retainer Replacement in Interior Trim.
  6. Remove the side upper garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
  7. Remove the I/P upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  8. Remove the front floor console, if equipped. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  9. Remove the steering column filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement .
  10. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  11. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.
  12. Remove the I/P cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement .
  13. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  14. Remove the HVAC control module. Refer to Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual.
  15. Remove the I/P cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  16. Remove the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  17. Remove the HUD dimmer switch, if equipped. Refer to Head Up Display Switch Replacement .
  18. Remove the HUD module, if equipped. Refer to Head Up Display Module Replacement .
  19. Remove the driver information center. Refer to Driver Information Center Module Replacement .
  20. Remove the I/P compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
  21. Remove the I/P compartment lamp. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Bulb Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  22. Remove the I/P compartment lamp switch. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.

  24. Remove the I/P trim pad bolts at the windshield.

  25. Object Number: 574248  Size: SH
  26. Remove the mounting bolts (1) from the lower trim pad.

  27. Object Number: 574362  Size: SH
  28. Remove the mounting bolt (1) from the I/P cluster pocket.
  29. Position the I/P wiring harness aside.
  30. Remove the I/P trim pad from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the I/P trim pad to the vehicle.
  2. Reposition the I/P wiring harness.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the I/P upper trim pad bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  6. Install the I/P cluster pocket bolt (1).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  8. Install the I/P lower bolts (1).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the I/P lower bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  10. Install the I/P compartment lamp switch. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  11. Install the I/P compartment lamp. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Bulb Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  12. Install the I/P compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
  13. Install the driver information center. Refer to Driver Information Center Module Replacement .
  14. Install the HUD module , if equipped. Refer to Head Up Display Module Replacement .
  15. Install the HUD dimmer switch, if equipped. Refer to Head Up Display Switch Replacement .
  16. Install the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  17. Install the I/P cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  18. Install the HVAC control module. Refer to Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual.
  19. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  20. Install the I/P cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement .
  21. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.
  22. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  23. Install the steering column filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement .
  24. Install the front floor console, if equipped. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  25. Install the I/P upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  26. Install the side upper garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
  27. Install the carpet retainers. Refer to Front Carpet Retainer Replacement in Interior Trim.
  28. Install the I/P insulators. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side and Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  29. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
  30. Connect the battery ground negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
