DEFINITION: This test checks the front passenger door lock switch, the front passenger, LR and RR door locks and their associated circuits.

Did you perform the Door Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Verify that the passenger door power door locks inoperative fault is present.

Do the passenger door locks operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Are both the lock and unlock functions inoperative?

Go to Step 5

Is the lock function the inoperative function?

Go to Step 6

Test the ground circuit of the front passenger door lock switch for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 17

Test the door lock control circuit of the front passenger door lock switch for a short to ground or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Test the door unlock control circuit of the front passenger door lock switch for a short to ground or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the body control module (BCM) C1 harness connector.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the door lock actuator lock control circuit pin of the BCM and the door lock actuator unlock control circuit pin of the BCM.
  4. Activate the front passenger door lock switch to the LOCK and UNLOCK positions.

Did the test lamp illuminate in both positions?

Go to Step 9

Test the door lock actuator lock control circuit of the appropriate door lock for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the door lock actuator unlock control circuit of the appropriate door lock for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the body control module (BCM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the front passenger door lock switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
