Did you review the operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Are any indicators illuminated in the DIC or IPC when the audible warning chime sounds?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition.
  3. Turn the headlamp switch off.
  4. Open the driver's door.

Does the chime sound?

Go to Step 4

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Make sure the headlamp switch is off.
  2. Turn the ignition OFF.
  3. Disconnect the BCM connector C2.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the headlamp switch signal circuit and a good ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Connect a test lamp between the key in ignition signal circuit and battery positive voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Test the park lamp switch signal circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Test the key in ignition signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Replace the ignition and key alarm switch. Refer to Ignition Switch Replacement - On Vehicle and in Steering Wheel and Column.
