Did you perform the IPC Diagnostic System Check?

Start the engine.

Does the engine oil pressure indicator remain illuminated after the displays test?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the IPC connector C2.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the oil pressure indicator control circuit and battery voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 6

  1. Leave the test lamp connected at the same location.
  2. Disconnect the engine oil pressure switch connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 7

Repair the short to ground in the oil pressure indicator control circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 8

Replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 8

Replace the engine oil pressure switch. Refer to Engine Oil Pressure Sensor and/or Switch Replacement in Engine Mechanical 3.1L or to Engine Oil Pressure Sensor and/or Switch Replacement in Engine Mechanical 3.8L.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 8

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
