Open the rear compartment.

Does the trunk ajar indicator illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the rear compartment courtesy lamp switch.
  2. Connect a fused jumper wire between the rear compartment courtesy lamp switch signal circuit and a good ground.

Does the trunk ajar indicator illuminate?

Connect a fused jumper between the rear compartment courtesy lamp switch signal circuit and the rear compartment courtesy lamp switch ground circuit.

Does the trunk ajar indicator illuminate?

Test for an open or high resistance in the signal circuit of the rear compartment courtesy lamp switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for an open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the rear compartment courtesy lamp switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the rear compartment courtesy lamp switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
