Open the rear compartment.

Does the lamp turn ON?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Remove the rear compartment lamp.
  3. Connect a test lamp to a good ground.
  4. Probe the rear compartment lamp voltage supply circuit with the test lamp.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Connect a test lamp between the voltage supply circuit of the rear compartment lamp and the ground circuit of the rear compartment lamp.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 9

Test for a high resistance or an open in the ground circuit of the rear compartment lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for a open or an poor connection at the rear compartment courtesy lamp switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open or poor connection in the voltage supply circuit of the rear compartment lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the rear compartment courtesy lamp switch. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Ajar Indicator Switch Replacement in Body Rear End.
