Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic Check?

  1. Turn the headlamp switch to the HEAD position.
  2. Place the headlamp dimmer switch in the LOW position.
  3. Place the headlamp dimmer switch in the HIGH position.

Do the all headlamps operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Are all the high beam and low beam headlamps inoperative?

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the headlamp switch.
  2. Using a test lamp, probe between the headlamp switch harness connector battery positive voltage circuit and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

At the harness connector of the headlamp switch, install a jumper between the battery positive voltage circuit and the headlamp switch signal circuit.

Do the headlamps turn on?

Go to Step 10

Test for a open or a high resistance in the headlamp switched signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 15

Test for a open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the inoperative headlamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for a poor connection at the harness connector of the inoperative headlamp. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for a poor connection at the harness connector of the headlamp dimmer switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for a poor connection at the harness connector of the headlamp switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair a open or an high resistance in the headlamp battery positive voltage supply circuit.

Replace the inoperative headlamp. Refer to Headlamp Assembly or Headlamp Bulb Replacement .

Replace the headlamp dimmer switch. Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column .
