Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

  1. With the engine OFF, turn ON the ignition switch.
  2. Turn ON the park lamps.
  3. Turn ON the fog lamps.

Do both fog lamps turn ON?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Did only one lamp turn ON?

Go to Step 12

  1. Remove the fog lamp relay.
  2. Install a fused jumper across the switched terminals of the fog lamps relay between the battery positive voltage supply circuit and the fog lamp supply voltage circuit.

Do the fog lamps turn ON?

Go to Step 5

  1. Disconnect the fog lamp switch.
  2. Reinstall the fog lamp relay.
  3. Install a jumper between the park lamp supply voltage circuit and the fog lamp relay coil supply circuit.

Do the fog lamps turn ON?

Test the fog lamp relay coil supply circuit for a poor connection, an open, or a short to ground. Refer to Connector Repairs and Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Test for a poor connection or an open in the park lamp supply voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for a short to ground in the fog lamp supply voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for a poor connection at the harness connector of the underhood accessory wiring junction block. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Inspect for a poor connection at the harness connector of the fog lamp switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for a poor connection at the harness connector of the fog lamp relay. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open or the high resistance in the inoperative fog lamp supply voltage or the fog lamp ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the underhood fuse block. Refer to Underhood Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement in Wiring Systems.

Replace the fog lamp switch. Refer to Fog Lamp Switch Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
