Removal Procedure
Notice: Cap the fittings and plug the holes when servicing the fuel system in
order to prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering the open
pipes and passages.
Important: Always maintain cleanliness when servicing fuel system components.
- Drain the fuel tank. Refer to
Fuel Tank Draining
.
- Remove the fuel filler cap.
- Remove the fuel filler pipe screws from
the fuel filler pocket.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Loosen the fuel filler hose clamp (1)
at the fuel filler pipe (2).
- Disconnect the fuel recirculating pipe from
the fuel filler pipe. Refer to
Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
- Remove the fuel filler pipe screw from the
under body.
- Remove the fuel filler pipe.
Installation Procedure
- Install the fuel filler pipe.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the fuel filler pipe screw to the under body.
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 13 N·m (115 lb in).
- Install and ensure the filler hose (4)
is fully seated on the fuel filler pipe (2).
- Ensure the clamp (1) is properly located on the fuel filler pipe (2)
after the bead (5) on the pipe.
Tighten
Tighten the fuel tank filler hose clamp to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).
- Connect the fuel recirculating pipe to the
fuel filler pipe. Refer to
Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the fuel filler pipe screws to the
fuel filler pocket.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).
- Add fuel and install the fuel fill cap.
