Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Record all of the vehicle preset radio stations.
  2. Turn OFF all the lamps and the accessories.
  3. Ensure the ignition switch is in the OFF position.
  4. Loosen the negative battery cable terminal nut.
  5. Remove the negative battery terminal (2) from the battery.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: Clean any existing oxidation from the contact face of the battery terminal and battery cable using a wire brush before installing the battery cable to the battery terminal.

  1. Install the negative battery terminal (2) to the battery.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery terminal nut to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  3. Set the clock and program the radio stations back into the radio as recorded at the beginning of the procedure. Refer to Radio/Audio System Description and Operation in Entertainment.
