As part of the Grand Prix automatic door lock feature, the doors will relock
under certain conditions at 25 MPH (40 km/h). The following operation is normal:
Door Lock Operating Characteristics:
| Important: Verify that the auto door lock feature is
turned "ON" through the DIC personalization menu.
|
• | The doors will automatically lock as you put the car into Drive. |
• | If you press a door unlock switch anytime after the doors are automatically
locked, the BCM detects the doors are unlocked and will relock the doors as the vehicle
accelerates past 25 MPH (40 km/h). |
• | If a door is manually unlocked and opened while the vehicle remains in
Drive, the BCM will again assume that there is at least one door that is unlocked
and will relock the vehicle as it accelerates past 25 MPH (40 km/h). |
• | Once this has occurred, the doors will not relock again unless the BCM
detects that the doors are unlocked again. |
• | Many other vehicles have this feature at lower speeds 5-10 MPH (8-16
km/h). |
DO NOT REPLACE THE BCM.
If the customers concern is reproduced according to any of the items in the
system operation description above, no repairs are necessary.
If the doors relock every time the vehicle passes through 25 MPH (40
km/h), follow the published diagnostics according to SI.
