Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement L26 and L32

Removal Procedure
  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  4. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .

    5. Object Number: 294335 Size: SH

    Important: The power steering pressure hose is the lower hose at the power steering gear.

  5. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the power steering gear.
  6. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump.

    7. Object Number: 1206116 Size: SH
  7. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the clamps on the power steering gear.
  8. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure
  1. Install the power steering pressure hose to the vehicle.

    2. Object Number: 1206116 Size: SH
  2. Install the power steering pressure hose to the clamps on the power steering gear.

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  4. Install the power steering pressure hose to the power steering gear.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the pressure hose fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  5. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  6. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  9. Fill the power steering system with power steering fluid. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  10. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  11. Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Leaks .

Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement LS4

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1655133 Size: SH
  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement - Accessory for the 5.3L engine.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  4. Remove the right front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .

    5. Important: The power steering pressure hose is the lower hose at the power steering gear.

  5. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the power steering gear.
  6. Remove the power steering pressure hose clips from the engine harness.
  7. Remove the bolt (2) from the pressure line support clamp.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Remove the power steering pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  10. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump.
  11. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1655133 Size: SH
  1. Install the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  2. Install the power steering pressure hose (1) to the power steering gear.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the pressure hose fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  3. Install the power steering pressure hose to the clamps (2).
  4. Install the power steering pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  5. Raise the vehicle.
  6. Install the bolt to the power steering line support clamp.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  7. Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement - Accessory for the 5.3L engine.
  8. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  9. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Fill the power steering system with power steering fluid. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  12. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  13. Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Leaks .
