This PI is being revised to update the change in the paint and application system. Please discard PIC3577.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
The silver GXP lettering may begin to peel or chip off the front caliper surface.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Currently, there is not a fix to replace just the lettering or checkerboard graphics because the graphics are painted on the caliper. Therefore, you must replace the caliper. Engineering and the supplier are aware of this condition and have made changes in the paint and application system. We are requesting that you provide a Field Product Report for any 2005/2006 GXPs built after May 2005 where you see this condition.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
