Some early production 1984 - 1985 Sunbirds and 1985 Grand Ams may have been assembled with front brake pads which had a chamfer on the leading and rear edge of the linings.

If a owner comment is encountered of a front brake squeak or whistle type noise on a Sunbird or Grand Am which have chamfered front brake linings, the new service kit 12321417 should be installed on the vehicle.
