SNAPPING NOISE FRONT-SPLASH SHIELD HITTING TIE ROD

VEHICLES AFFECTED: All 1984 'J' Series ------------------- A snapping noise may occur on some 1984 'J' style cars during steering or wheel jounce motions, especially during cold weather.

This condition may be caused by contact between the front wheelhouse splash shield and the steering tie rod. It can be corrected by enlarging the splash shield opening approximately 15mm (9/16 in.) around its entire circumference, using a knife or shears.
