IN REFERENCE TO BULLETIN #101, GROUP 1, DATED OCTOBER 31, 1981, ON THE SUBJECT OF INADEQUATE COOLING IN A/C MODE WITH HI BLOWER OPERATION , THE INSTRUCTION SHEET THAT ACCOMPANIES SERVICE KIT PART NUMBER 3053055 IS REVISED AS FOLLOWS: 1.REMOVE THE LEFT SIDE SOUNDPACKAGING FROM THE UNDER SIDE OF THE DASH (4 SCREWS) AND RETAIN. *2.REMOVE THE DASH BEZEL BELOW THE STEERING COLUMN (2 SCREWS) AND RETAIN. 3.REMOVE THE AIR DISTRIBUTION DUCT (4 SCREWS) AND RETAIN. 4.REMOVE THE RIGHT SIDE SOUND PACKAGING (2 SCREWS) AND RETAIN. 5.REMOVE THE CABLE ATTACHING SCREW AND CLIP 'A' FROM THE LEVER PIN. 6.REMOVE THE LARGE RETAINER LABELLED 'B' AND DISCARD. CAUTION - CARE MUST BE TAKEN TO AVOID DAMAGE TO THE PIVOT PIN. 7.REMOVE LEVER 'C' AND LINK 'D' AND DISCARD. 8.INSTALL THE PROVIDED LEVER AND LINK ASM IN THE POSITION ILLUSTRATED. USING A 19MM SOCKET, PUSH ON AND SEAT THE LARGE RETAINER 'B' PROVIDED. THEN PUSH ON THE SMALL RETAINER 'E' PROVIDED USING A 7MM SOCKET TO SEAT IT. 9.COMPRESS CLIP 'A' AND SLIDE IT APPROXIMATELY .25 INCH TOWARD THE SCREW ATTACHING TAB. REASSEMBLE THE CLIP ON THE LEVER PIN AND ATTACH THE CABLE WITH THE SCREW. 10.MOVE THE TEMPERATURE LEVER ON THE DASH CONTROL TO THE FULL HEAT POSITION TO OBTAIN ADJUSTMENT OF CONTROL. * INDICATES AN ADDITION. NOTE THE STEP TO REMOVE THE GLOVE BOX HAS BEEN REMOVED. HEATED AIR FROM THE AIR CONDITIONING OUTLETS, DURING HIGH BLOWER OPERATION IN A/C MODE, MAY BE TRACED TO A BROKEN TEMPERATURE VALVE LINK. THE AIR CONDITIONING MODE WILL OPERATE PROPERLY (ADEQUATE COOLING) IN LOW TO MEDIUM BLOWER SPEEDS; HOWEVER, THE AIR FLOW AT HIGH BLOWER OPERATION WILL RAISE THE TEMPERATURE DOOR, DEFLECTING AIR THROUGH THE HEATER CORE. THE CONDITION CAN BE CORRECTED BY INSTALLATION OF SERVICE KIT, PART NUMBER 3053055. THE KIT CONSISTS OF A NEW DESIGN BELL-CRANK/LINK ASSEMBLY, BELL-CRANK RETAINER AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION SHEET. CARE SHOULD BE USED IN REMOVING FACTORY INSTALLED BELL-CRANK RETAINER (LARGE GREEN PUSH-ON RETAINER) TO AVOID DAMAGE TO THE SHAFT WHICH MAY AFFECT RETENTION OF THE NEW RETAINER.
