1982-84 BONNEVILLE AND GRAND PRIX
---------- "Check Engine" light and Code 24 may occur, due to inoperative V.S.S. (Vehicle Speed Sensor).
----- Servicing of speedometer cluster may cause V.S.S. wires to break.
---------- When removing the speedometer cluster, drop the left-hand hush panel, remove the tie-strap on the V.S.S. wire and then remove the V.S.S. connector from the main wire harness. This will allow the speedometer to pull away from the instrument panel for easier access to the speedometer V.S.S.
After installing the cluster assembly, reattach the V.S.S. wire with a tie-strap or tape at the buffer connector as shown in the illustration.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
