BO 46440 (DS 401) TORX Bolt Wrench

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

    CAUTION: When you are performing service on or near the SRS components or the SRS wiring, you must disable the SRS system. Refer to Disabling the SRS System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause air bag deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SRS system repairs.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Interior Trim.

  4. Disconnect the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) electrical connector (3).
  5. CAUTION: In order to avoid deploying the air bag when troubleshooting the SRS system, use only the equipment specified in this manual and the instructions given in this manual. Failure to use the specified equipment as instructed could cause air bag deployment, personal injury to you or someone else, or unnecessary SRS system repairs.

  6. Remove the TORX bolts using the BO 46440  (2).
  7. Remove the SDM (1).

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

    Notice: Never us an SDM that is damaged or has been subjected to water intrusion. The use of an SDM that is damaged or has been subjected to water intrusion can result in a malfunctioning SIR system and cause vehicle damage.

    Important: Ground the wiring harness to the mounting TORX bolt (1).

  1. Install the SDM with the mounting TORX bolts so that the arrow on the SDM label points toward the front of the vehicle.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the SDM mounting TORX bolts to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  3. Connect the SDM electrical connector.

  5. Install the floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Interior Trim.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
  7. Check for proper operation of the system.
  8. 5.1. Turn the ignition ON while watching the supplemental inflatable restraints warning lamp.
    5.2. The warning lamp should turn ON for about 4 seconds, and then turn OFF.
