DEFINITION: This table diagnoses the wipers operates normally but will not return to the park position when the wiper operation is cancelled.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn the ignition ON, engine OFF.
  2. Move the wiper switch to the LO position.
  3. Move wiper switch to the OFF position.

Do the front wipers advance to the park position?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

  1. Connect a test lamp between the park circuit and a good ground at the wiper motor connector.
  2. Turn the ignition ON, engine OFF.
  3. Move the wiper switch to the LO position.

Does the test lamp flash on and off with each rotation of the wiper motor?

Go to Step 4

  1. Connect a test lamp between the park circuit and a good ground at the wiper/washer switch connector.
  2. Turn the ignition ON, engine OFF.
  3. Move the wiper switch to the LO position.

Does the test lamp flash on and off with each rotation of the wiper motor?

  1. Connect a test lamp between the park switch supply circuit and a good ground at the wiper motor connector.
  2. Turn the ignition ON, engine OFF.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the wiper/washer switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the wiper motor. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Repair the open in the Run/Park circuit between the wiper motor connector and wiper/washer switch connector. Refer to Wiring Repairs .

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 12

Repair the open in the park switch supply circuit between the wiper motor connector and fuse block. Refer to Wiring Repairs .

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 12

Replace the front wiper/washer switch.

Did you complete the replacement?

Replace the front wiper motor.

Did you complete the replacement?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
