Brake Proportion Valve Replacement for Pontiac Matiz 2009
Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning in the Preface section.
Caution: Avoid spilling brake fluid onto painted surfaces, electrical connections, wiring, or cables. Brake fluid will damage painted surfaces and cause corrosion to electrical components. If any brake
fluid comes in contact with painted surfaces, immediately flush the area with water. If any brake fluid comes in contact with electrical connections, wiring, or cables, use a clean shop cloth to wipe away the fluid.
- Loosen the brake pipe fittings-to-proportioning valve (1).
- Remove the proportioning valve (2).
- Plug the opening in the proportioning valve and brake pipe fitting to prevent fluid loss or contamination.
- Remove the proportioning valve.
Installation Procedure
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the proportioning valve (1) and tighten to
22 N·m (16 lb ft).
- Install the brake pipe fitting (2) and tighten the brake pipe fitting-to-proportioning valve to
16 N·m (12 lb ft).
- Bleed the brake system. Refer to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.
