This 5-speed transaxle assembly adopts the synchronized mesh type of 5 forward speed. The reverse speed gear is driven by sliding idle gear without synchronizer.
It prevents the gear from directly being shifted from 5th to reverse. Shift to reverse from the neutral position to prevent the shift cam from interfering the shift guide bolt.
When shifting to 5th gear, the shift and select shaft rotates the shift cams apart by a returning spring. Therefore, shifting to reverse in this condition is impossible because of interference of a guide bolt.
When shifting to reverse from the neutral position, shift cams rotate to the left and shifting is possible.
The differential is integrated with the transmission case and is installed on the chassis together with the engine. It changes the direction of power and increases torque.
The reduction gear is installed parallel to a counter shaft and is a helical gear type. The differential gear is a bevel gear type and is integrated with a reduction gear.
