Makes 🢒 Pontiac 🢒 1999 🢒 Montana 🢒 Steering 🢒 Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt 🢒 Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Assemble - Off Vehicle

    Object Number: 306687 Size: SH
  1. Align the block tooth on the race and upper shaft assembly (1) to the 12 o'clock position.
  2. Put the lock cylinder in the LOCK position and remove the key.
  3. A new inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil will be precentered.
  4. If reusing the original inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil refer to Inflatable Restraint Coil Centering - Off Vehicle .

  5. Align the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil (2) with the horn tower sticking through the shaft lock shield assembly (1).

    6. Object Number: 360597 Size: SH

    Important: Seat the retaining ring (1) securely on the groove of the race and upper shaft assembly (2).

  6. Install the retaining ring (1).
  7. If you are using a new coil, remove and dispose of the orange tab.

    8. Object Number: 360577 Size: SH

    Caution: Improper routing of the wire harness assembly may damage the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. This may result in a malfunction of the coil, which may cause personal injury.

  8. Install the wire harness assembly (4) into the wire harness strap (5).
  9. Install the wire harness strap (2) into the steering column tilt head assembly (1).
  10. Install the wire harness straps (3) onto the wire harness assembly (4).
  11. Install the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble - Off Vehicle .
  12. Enable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
