Removal Procedure
Important: There is no service interval for fuel filter replacement. Only replace the fuel filter if restricted.
- Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to
Fuel Pressure Relief.
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove the quick-connect fitting at the inlet of the fuel filter. Refer
Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.
- Remove the quick-connect fitting at the outlet of the fuel filter. Refer to
Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.
- Drain any remaining fuel into an approved gasoline container.
- Remove the fuel filter mounting bracket attaching nut.
- Remove the fuel filter and mounting bracket.
- Remove the fuel filter from the fuel filter mounting bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the rear fuel line (1).
- Install the new fuel filter and bracket (2) with the flow indicator pointing to the rear of the vehicle.
- Connect the quick-connect fitting to the rear fuel line. Refer to
Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the fuel filter mounting bracket attaching nut.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the front fuel line (3).
- Connect the quick-connect fitting to the fuel filter and the front fuel line. Refer to
Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.
- Install the fuel line clips (4) to the fuel lines.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Inspect for fuel leaks.
9.1. | Turn ON the ignition for 2 seconds. |
9.2. | Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds. |
9.3. | Turn ON the ignition. |
