Automatic Level Control Sensor Replacement IRS

Important: When replacing the height sensor a diagnostic system check must be performed .

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.



2. Remove the automatic level control height sensor electrical connector (1).
3. Remove the automatic level control height sensor link from the ball stud. Refer to Automatic Level Control Sensor Link Replacement.



4. Remove the automatic level control height sensor bracket bolts (1).
5. Remove the automatic level control height sensor from the vehicle.
6. Remove the automatic level control height sensor link from the sensor arm .

1. Install the automatic level control height sensor link onto the sensor arm .
2. Install the automatic level control height sensor to the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.




3. Install the height sensor bracket bolts (1).

Tighten
Tighten the height sensor bracket bolts to 85 N·m (63 lb ft)

4. Install the automatic level control height link to the tie rod ball stud. Refer to Automatic Level Control Sensor Link Replacement.



5. Install the automatic level control height sensor electrical connector (1).
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Refer to Control Module References for programming and setup information.

Automatic Level Control Sensor Replacement Twist Axle

Notice: When you are servicing the automatic level control sensor link, ensure that the sensor link and the sensor arm are not damaged. Ensure the sensor arm and the sensor link are properly oriented. Improper orientation of the sensor arm and the sensor link may cause damage to the automatic level control system or the vehicle.

1. Remove the ELC/TRAILER fuse.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
3. Remove the automatic level control sensor connector.
4. Remove the automatic level control sensor link (3) from the ball stud (1).



5. Remove the automatic level control sensor bracket bolts/screws.
6. Remove the automatic level control sensor with the bracket (2) from the vehicle.

1. Position the automatic level control sensor and bracket (2) to the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

2. Install the height sensor bolts/screws.

Tighten
Tighten the height sensor bolts/screws to12 N·m (106 lb in).




3. Install the automatic level control sensor link (3) to the ball stud (1).
4. Install the automatic level control sensor connector.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Install the ELC/TRAILER fuse.
7. Refer to Control Module References for programming and setup information.
