The body control module (BCM) flashes the headlamps and pulses the horns when a theft attempt is detected. The BCM grounds the headlamp and parklamp control circuits via a descrete input of the daytime running lamps (DRL) control module. The DRL control module actuates the headlamp and parklamp relays internal to the DRL control module.
The BCM detects a short to battery or short to ground in the exterior lamps output circuit.
• | The BCM sets the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) 6. |
• | The BCM does not turn on the headlamps during the armed, warning, or alarm modes. |
A short to battery or short to ground in the exterior lamps output circuit is no longer present between the BCM and the DRL control module.
• | If the exterior lamps output circuit is shorted to ground, the headlamps will stay ON at all times. |
• | Move the wiring and the connectors while you complete the following tests. This may cause the malfunction to appear. |
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
