Removal Procedure
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

    2. Object Number: 629009 Size: SH
  2. If the vehicle is equipped with all wheel drive, remove the right side engine splash shield in order to access the heat shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement in Body Front End.

    3. Object Number: 629007 Size: SH
  3. Remove the steering gear heat shield bolts.
  4. Remove the steering gear heat shield.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 629007 Size: SH
  1. Install the steering gear heat shield.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the steering gear heat shield bolts.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the steering gear heat shield bolts to 14 N·m (124 lb in).

  3. If the vehicle is equipped with all wheel drive, install the right side engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement in Body Front End.
  4. Lower the vehicle.
