Second Row Seat Belt Will Not Retract: Passenger Side - kw actuator belt grab hard interior intermittent mount operation part rear release restraint seatbelt trim unwanted

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

The second row passenger side seat belt may not retract. When the seat belts are fully extended, they go into a "cinch" mode until they are fully retracted. This cinch mode enables the seat belts to stay tight and restrain child seats. If the belt cannot be fully retracted, it will not release the locking mechanism.

Check which position the "D-ring" anchor is mounted to on the C-pillar (upper or lower). There are four different seating configurations for this location and two different anchor positions for the seat belt shoulder belt upper "D-ring" on the passenger side. Captains chairs and bucket seats use the lower anchor position, while split and full bench seats use the upper position. If seat belt designed for the bucket or captains chairs is installed in the upper position, it cannot retract far enough to release the cinch mode. For captains and buckets, the upper "D-ring" must be in the lower position on the C-pillar. The driver side is not involved as it only has one C-pillar hole for second row seats.

NOTE: Bolts are self tapping.
