The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Customers may report that when starting the vehicle, the radio will not turn on. Further questioning of the customer may indicate that the radio will come on anywhere from 30 seconds to 15 minutes later or if the ignition is cycled off then on again.
This can be duplicated when customer has been driving the car with FOB one and the next start is with a different FOB usually number two. This is due to the radio software in Siemens radios and affects US8 (Single Disk MP3) and US9 (In Dash Six Disk MP3) radios
only.
Recommendation/Instructions:
A repair is now available for this concern. It will be necessary to send the radio to the local exchange center for a software upgrade. When returning the radio to the exchange center, it will be necessary to document the reason for exchange. Example:
"Radio Will Not Power On At Start Up". Failure to document this information to the exchange center will result in a radio with out the updated software.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
