Reduced RKE Range - keywords accessory AP3 AP8 intermittent performance remote RVS

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

A technician may have a complaint of reduced RKE performance/range.

After SI diagnostics has been followed and the performance of the RKE remote controls are still less than SI specifications the following instructions may help. An additional external antenna may be added to pin 3 of the RCDLR using a Micro-100 pin and about 6-8 feet of wire. Attach the wire to the micro-100 pin and install in open cavity pin 3 of the RCDLR. The wire should be routed up the driver's a-pillar across headliner and down the passenger side a-pillar.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
