The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Vehicle may have SES Light On and torque converter clutch will not engage.
One potential cause is a missing #521 drive sprocket support bearing. Another potential cause turbine shaft contact with channel plate inner bushing causing wear of the turbine shaft seal.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Inspect the drive sprocket support for installation of the inner bearing. Inspect the channel plate bushing for grooves. Inspect the turbine shaft and turbine shaft seals for wear. Replace the drive sprocket support if the bearing is found not installed.
Replace the channel plate if the bushing is found to be scored, replace all other necessary parts.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
