The internal fault detection of the compass is handled by the instrument panel cluster (IPC).
The IPC monitors the analog input value at power up.
The IPC does not detect the compass sensor. This may be due to an open circuit.
The DTC will be set and stored in non-volatile memory.
• | The DTC becomes history when the driver information center (DIC) no longer detects a failure. |
• | The history DTC clears after 100 fault-free ignition cycles. |
• | The DIC receives the clear code command from the scan tool. |

Ignition ON, verify with a scan tool that the DTC is a history DTC.
