Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Remove the rear wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
- Remove the brake caliper and support the bake caliper. Do not disconnect the bake hose. Refer to
Rear Brake Caliper Replacement
.
- Disconnect the park brake cable from the park brake actuator and the park brake cable bracket.
- Use a utility stand in order to support the lower control arm.
- Disconnect the height sensor link from the lower control arm as necessary.
- Disconnect the shock absorber from the lower control arm. Refer to
Shock Absorber Replacement
.
- Remove the upper control arm to knuckle nut and bolt.
- Use 2 utility stands in order to support the crossmember.
- Remove the crossmember to underbody bolts.
- Slowly lower the crossmember until there is enough clearance to remove the upper control arm.
- Remove the upper control arm to crossmember bolts and nuts.
- Remove the upper control arm.
Installation Procedure
- Install the upper control arm.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the bolts and the nuts which secure the upper control arm to the crossmember.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 75 N·m (55 lb ft).
- Use 2 utility stands in order to raise the crossmember.
- Install the crossmember-to-underbody bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 130 N·m (96 lb ft).
- Install the upper control arm to the knuckle.
Tighten
Tighten the nut which secures the upper control arm to 100 N·m (74 lb ft).
- Connect the shock absorber to the lower control arm. Refer to
Shock Absorber Replacement
.
- Connect the height sensor link to the lower control arm as necessary.
- Connect the park brake cable to the park brake actuator and the park brake cable bracket.
- Install the brake caliper. Refer to
Rear Brake Caliper Replacement
.
Important: Maintain proper rear park brake cable routing and clearances. Verify the rear park brake cables have a minimum of 10 mm and a maximum of 12 mm of clearance to the wheel drive shafts (1). Maintain
this clearance using retention straps or equivalent retention (2).
- Install the rear wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
