Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.

Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in the Preface section.

1. Remove the air cleaner housing from the engine compartment. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.



2. Remove brake pipes from master Cylinder (1).

Important: Note the locations of the brake pipes in order to aid in installation.




3. Disconnect the brake pipes from the proportion valve .



4. Remove the nuts to the proportion valve mounting bracket (1).
5. Remove the proportion valve and bracket.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

1. Install the proportion valve bracket and nuts (1).

Tighten
Tighten the nuts 10 N·m (84 lb in).




2. Install the brake pipes to the proportion valve .

Tighten
Tighten the fittings to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).




3. Install brake pipes to master cylinder (1).

Tighten
Tighten the fittings to 32 N·m (24 lb ft).

4. Reinstall the air cleaner housing. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
5. Bleed brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
