Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.

Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Remove the air cleaner housing from the engine compartment. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.

  2. Object Number: 886404  Size: SH
  3. Remove brake pipes from master Cylinder (1).
  4. Important: Note the locations of the brake pipes in order to aid in installation.


    Object Number: 886412  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the brake pipes from the proportion valve .

  6. Object Number: 886409  Size: SH
  7. Remove the nuts to the proportion valve mounting bracket (1).
  8. Remove the proportion valve and bracket.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 886409  Size: SH
  1. Install the proportion valve bracket and nuts (1).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts 10 N·m (84 lb in).


    Object Number: 886412  Size: SH
  3. Install the brake pipes to the proportion valve .
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fittings to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).


    Object Number: 886404  Size: SH
  5. Install brake pipes to master cylinder (1).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fittings to 32 N·m (24 lb ft).

  7. Reinstall the air cleaner housing. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
  8. Bleed brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
