Evaporative Emission Canister Replacement Short Wheel Base
Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Disconnect the evaporative
emission (EVAP) vent hose (3), purge pipe (5), and vapor pipe (4)
from the EVAP canister (1).
- Remove the forward attaching nut from the EVAP canister bracket.
- Remove the two rear attaching nuts (2) from the EVAP canister
bracket at the fuel tank.
- Lower the EVAP canister assembly.
- Pull the rear canister bracket flange away from the EVAP canister.
- Lift the rear of the EVAP canister from the bracket to release
the forward tab.
Installation Procedure
- Install the EVAP canister into the forward tab of the canister
bracket.
- Press the rear of the EVAP canister down in order to engage the
rear bracket tabs.
- Install the EVAP canister
assembly to the fuel tank.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the two
attaching nuts (2) to the EVAP canister bracket at the fuel tank studs.
Tighten
Tighten the attaching nuts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Install the forward attaching nut to the canister bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the attaching nuts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Connect the EVAP vent hose (3), purge pipe (5),
and vapor pipe (4) to the EVAP canister (1).
- Lower the vehicle.
Evaporative Emission Canister Replacement Long Wheel Base
Removal Procedure
- Remove the fuel tank. Refer to
Fuel Tank Replacement
.
- Disconnect the evaporative
emission (EVAP) canister vent pipe (7) from the EVAP canister (1).
- Disconnect the EVAP canister vapor pipe (6) from the EVAP canister
(1).
- Disconnect the EVAP canister purge pipe (8) from the EVAP canister
(1).
- Use a suitable tool to remove the EVAP canister (1) from
the fuel tank.
Installation Procedure
Important: High resistance is normal when installing the EVAP canister.
- Position and push the EVAP canister (1) into the EVAP canister bracket
of the fuel tank.
- Pull up on the EVAP canister (1) to ensure a proper lock to the
fuel tank bracket.
- Connect the EVAP canister purge pipe (8) to the EVAP canister
(1).
- Connect the EVAP canister vapor pipe (6) to the EVAP canister
(1).
- Connect the EVAP canister vent pipe (7) to the EVAP canister (1).
- Install the fuel tank. Refer to
