Subject: | Roof Rack Center Rails, Bars Rattle, Make Noise after Dealer Installed RPA VK1 |

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
The crossbows that were standard in previous years when V54-Luggage Racks were ordered have been discontinued for the '04 model year. You may order SPO Luggage CrossBars (V1K) as an RPA, but these are not the same as the previous crossbows. The new CrossBars are a tubular steel design and are used to attach roof mounted items such as a cargo carrier, ski or bike racks. It is recommended that these CrossBars be removed when not required to carry cargo since they are less appealing in appearance and due to their design may create significant windnoise which will likely result in significant customer dissatisfaction.
My recommendation is to demonstrate how to use the cross bars at delivery, but explain the wind noise issue and leave the bars in the vehicle. This will eliminate many windnoise complaints and improve your customer satisfaction.
