Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Turn the interior lamps override switch to the ON position.
  3. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) compartment lamp bulb.
  4. Using a test lamp probe between the interior lamps switched voltage supply circuit and the ground circuit of the I/P compartment lamp bulb socket.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

  1. Disconnect the I/P compartment lamp connector.
  2. Using a test lamp connected to ground, probe the interior lamps switched voltage supply circuit of the I/P compartment lamp connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Using a test lamp, probe between the interior lamps switched voltage supply circuit and the ground circuit of the I/P compartment lamp connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Repair the open or high resistance in the supply voltage circuit of the I/P compartment lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 9

Repair the open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the I/P compartment lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 9

Replace the I/P compartment lamp bulb.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 9

Replace the I/P compartment lamp assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
