The body control module (BCM) flashes the headlamps and pulses the horns when a theft attempt is detected. The BCM grounds the headlamp and parklamp control circuits via a discrete input of the daytime running lamps (DRL) control module. The DRL control module actuates the headlamp and parklamp relays internal to the DRL control module.
This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:
DTC 006 Exterior Lamp Output Circuit High/Low
The BCM detects a short to battery or short to ground in the exterior lamps output circuit.
• | The BCM sets the DTC 006. |
• | The BCM does not turn on the headlamps during the armed, warning, or alarm modes. |
A short to battery or short to ground in the exterior lamps output circuit is no longer present between the BCM and the DRL control module.
• | If the exterior lamps output circuit is shorted to ground, the headlamps will stay ON at all times. |
• | Move the wiring and the connectors while you complete the following tests. This may cause the malfunction to appear. |
The number below refers to the step number on the diagnostic table.
