Circuit Description

The rear side door actuator control module supplies the power and ground to operate the power sliding door actuator motor and the actuator clutch. The direction of the actuator motor rotation is determined by which of the control circuits is supplied 12 volts and which is grounded. The rear side door actuator control module varies the current flow through the actuator motor ground circuit to control the speed of the actuator motor as necessary. The actuator clutch enables the power sliding door to be operated manually when de-energized, or by the actuator motor when energized.

DTC Descriptor

This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:

DTC 014 Actuator Motor Control Circuit Fault

Conditions for Running the DTC

A power sliding door open or close function is attempted.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

An actuator motor control circuit fault is detected by the rear side door actuator control module.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • The rear side door actuator control module will attempt to operate the door and stop if the condition is current.
    • The rear side door actuator control module sets a DTC 014.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

All stored DTCs are cleared whenever the on-board diagnostic modes are exited.

Diagnostic Aids

    • Inspect the power sliding door actuator motor pigtail harness and connector terminals for damage.
    • Inspect the actuator clutch pigtail harness and connector terminals for damage.

Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. Tests the rear side door actuator control modules ability to provide power and ground to operate the power sliding door actuator motor.

  2. Tests the rear side door actuator control modules ability to provide power and ground to energize the power sliding door actuator clutch.
