NO REVERSE GEAR ENGAGEMENT

MODELS AFFECTED 1988 LEMANS WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION ---------------

Some of the subject vehicles may exhibit a condition of "no reverse gear engagement".

This condition may be the result of insufficient clamping force of the "tube to rod" clamp (See Figure 1) caused by an interference condition at the clamp.

The repair action is to replace the clamp, tube front to rod, P/N 90217840 and reinstall bolt and washer.

Re-adjust shift linkage and tighten clamp following service manual procedures.
