Models Affected: 1988-90 LEMANS WITH 1.6L (VIN 6)

When utilizing magnetic probe timing equipment to check or adjust ignition timing on Lemans equipped with 1.6L (VIN 6) engines (as mentioned in Sections 6E2 and 6D4 of the 1988-90 Service manuals), consult the timing equipment manufacturers instructions for the correct offset adjustment for this engine. If the standard General Motors offset adjustment is used, ignition timing could be set incorrectly, resulting in poor performance and reduced fuel economy.
