If a 1988 LeMans vehicle is received with incorrect/missing options and the dealer does not elect to receive the vehicle in "as is" condition and receive a billing adjustment, the correct part(s) should be obtained from G.M.S.P.O. (General Motors Service Parts Operations) and installed on the vehicle. A transportation claim should then be submitted for the parts and labor associated with installing the option using the appropriate labor operation and failure code 54.
This procedure should be utilized for the LeMans carline regardless of the price of the parts required to replace the missing option (for all other carlines, parts to correct missing/incorrect options that will exceed $250.00 should be obtained from the assembly plant) .
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
