WE HAVE RECEIVED COMMENTS QUESTIONING THE LOCATION OF THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" DRIVER MODULE ON ALL MODELS WITH GAS ENGINES. THIS DEVICE IS TAPED TO THE MAIN WIRING HARNESS BEHIND THE I/P, JUST TO THE RIGHT OF VEHICLE CENTER LINE. IT IS CONTAINED INSIDE A LIGHT GREEN CASE WITH A SNAP OPEN END COVER. THE CASE IS APPROXIMATELY 1/2" THICK 3" LONG AND 1-1/2" WIDE. IT IS SHOWN ON PAGE 219 OF THE 1982 ELECTRICAL TROUBLESHOOTING MANUAL TITLED "LIGHT DRIVER MODULE" AND IN THE 1982 CUTLASS CIERA AND OMEGA MANUAL ON PAGE 6E1-63 FIG. 6E1-66.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
