Subject:No Start After Engine Harness Replacement (NON-ABS)

Models:2005-2006 Chevrolet Cobalt
2006 Chevrolet HHR
2005-2006 Pontiac Pursuit (Canada Only)

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

You might encounter a condition of a NO START after the engine harness was replaced for another unrelated issue. You will find that you have no communication with the PCM and Possible TCM.

There will be an extra 42 pin connector for the EBCM, there are 2 wires that go through the EBCM to the ECM which if the vehicle is NOT equipped with ABS and the connector is left disconnected the vehicle will not run, and will cause an open circuit in high speed LAN

Recommendation/Instructions:

At the extra connector for the ABS Module the 2501H (TAN) WIRE IN CAV 22 should be jumpered to the 2501K (TAN) WIRE IN CAV 37. Also the 2500H (TAN) WIRE IN CAV 21 should be jumpered to the 2500k (TAN) WIRE IN CAV 36

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
