Important: Always perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle prior to using this diagnostic procedure.

The inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) runs continuous diagnostic tests on the restraints system. When the ignition is turned ON, the SDM will check to see if the correct components are installed for the vehicle configuration. If the SDM detects that there are too few or too many components on the system, DTC  B1019 will set.

Ignition voltage is between 9-16 volts.

If the SDM has been replaced, make sure that the correct part number was installed for this vehicle.

Electrical Information Reference

1. Ignition ON, use the scan tool to request SIR DTCs. Verify that DTC B1019 is set as current.

⇒	If DTC B1019 is history, clear codes and recheck.

2. Using the scan tool check the BCM that is programmed with the VIN. Verify that the BCM is programmed with the correct VIN number with the vehicle VIN plate.

⇒	If the BCM has the wrong VIN number refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration for programming.

3. Using the scan tool perform the Setup SDM Part Number into BCM procedure. Refer to Control Module References for programming.
4. Ignition ON, use the scan tool to clear the DTCs then cycle the ignition OFF then back ON. Verify that DTC B1019 is cleared.

⇒	If DTC B1019 was current replace the SDM.
