The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Parts are available to repair the convertible top. Please follow the below procedures as replacement of the entire top assembly is not necessary.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Condition:

The top binds going up and down or the top pin that is supposed to fit into the mucket does not fit properly; it is to the right or left of the locating point. The top link is out of adjustment or has come apart from the ball stud.

Correction:

See TSB 06-08-67-017B SI Doc # 1966864 and SI Doc # 1585426 for instructions on how to adjust the link.

Condition:

Door glass comes in contact with convertible top webbing at upper rear corners

Correction:

See TSB 07-08-67-005 SI Doc # 2002096 for instructions on adjusting the number 4 bow.

Condition:

The elastic strap at the back of the top is torn.

Correction:

Have an upholstery shop sew the strap.

Condition:

The top has a cut or wear spot, in the material.

Correction:

Replace the top cover only, parts are available through SPO.

Note: Please use " 3M Industrial 5 oz Scotch-Grip High Performance Contact Adhesive 1357 " (get locally) to adhere the new top to the front bow.

Condition:

The top does not fit close to the body behind the window area. Check for a stretched spring on the top cable in the buttress area.

Correction:

Condition:

There is a water leak at the rear window or the rear window is pulling away from the top material.

Correction:

See TSB 06-08-57-002B SI Doc # 1863911 for repair instructions.

Condition:

There is a water leak at the center of the windshield leaking water onto the shifter.

Correction:

See TSB 06-08-67-016 SI Doc # 1865617 for repair instructions.

Condition:

There is a water or wind leak from around the door glass, top weather-strips.

Correction:

See TSB 05-08-67-011A SI Doc # 1738648 for waterleak diagnosis. See SI for door glass adjustment procedures and weather-strip replacement

Condition:

The electrical connection for the rear window defogger has come off.

Correction:

See TSB 05-08-48-005A SI Doc # 1864069 for repair instructions.

Condition:

The rear window defog grid is not working.

Correction:

See TSB 05-08-48-003B SI Doc #1863899 for repair information.

Condition:

The top is hard to latch at the front center latch. The convertible top center latch is probably bent.

Correction:

See TAC PI # PIC3700E SI Doc # 1861076 for repair instructions. Do not replace the latch.

Condition:

The top is wrinkled in the buttress area.

Correction:

See TAC PI # PIC3990 SI Doc 1789715 for repair instructions.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
