The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

A customer may comment of two different problems after the GM Accessory Luggage Rack was installed.

1. The deck lid will not open without grabbing the luggage rack to assist the opening process while simultaneously using the key fob to open the decklid.

or:

2. The deck lid may not stay open when raised due to the extra weight on the decklid.

No parts should be replaced for this condition.

This is considered normal operation of the decklid after the luggage rack is installed. There are no stronger torque rods or modifications that can be done to the production torque rods to assist the opening of the deck lid with the luggage rack installed.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
