Is the security indicator ON at all times?

Go to Step 3

Disconnect the body control module (BCM) connector containing the security indicator control circuit.

Does the security indicator remain illuminated?

Go to Step 5

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the BCM connector containing the security indicator control circuit.
  3. Ground the security indicator control circuit with a fused jumper wire and appropriate terminal adapter.

Does the security indicator illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Test the security indicator control circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Test the security indicator control circuit for an open or short to battery. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the BCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .
